چکیده

In 1937, SASLOW1) reported that the oxygen consumption of the skeletal muscle was increased by subcontracture dose of caffeine. AXELSON2) observed the mechanical change of skeletal muscle induced by caffeine and pointed out the fact that caffeine was a useful agent for the analysis of excitation-contraction coupling mechanism. He found that caffeine was also able to induce the contracture in the K-depolarized muscle. In this case, caffeine had no relation to the electrical properties of the cytoplasmic membrane of the muscle. On the other hand, in the study of potassium effect on the heat production of the muscle. HILL and HOWARTH3) reported that the membrane properties controlled directly the rate of the heat production, having no relation to the contracture of the muscle. Similar fact was ascertained recently by MOMMAERTS4) in the case of the anaerobic glycolysis of the muscle. In the present paper, the authors would like to report the effects of caffeine on the oxygen consumption, the height of contracture, phosphate com-

THE EFFECT OF EIGHT-WEEK HIGH INTENSITY INTERVAL TRAINING (HIIT) AND CAFFEINE INTAKE ON THE PGC-1Α EXPRESSION IN SOLEUS MUSCLE IN DIABETIC RATS INDUCED STREPTOZOTOCIN

Background: The relationship between low PGC-1α expression and several metabolic diseases such as diabetes and obesity has been identified. This study investigates the effect of eight-week high intensity interval training (HIIT) and caffeine intake on mitochondrial biogenesis in soleus muscle in diabetic rats induced Streptozotocin. Methods: In a clinical-interventional animal study, 50 male r...

Comparison of the Effect of 8 Weeks of Continuous, Intermittent Training on Maximum Oxygen Consumption, Muscle Endurance and General Health of Overweight Seventh Grade Male Students

Background and Objectives: Interval training, in various forms, is one of the most effective tools today to improve cardiorespiratory and metabolic function and in turn improve physical function. The aim of the present study was to compare the effect of 8 weeks of continuous, intermittent exercise on maximum oxygen consumption, muscle endurance and general health of overweight seventh grade mal...

The effect of phytochemical compounds on indicators of oxidative stress, inflammation and skeletal muscle damage caused by physical activity

Physical activities are associated with increased production of reactive oxygen species. The production of reactive oxygen species is dependent of the intensity, duration and type of activity. Although the physiological amounts of reactive oxygen species are necessary to regulate cell reactions, their excessive production can cause numerous damages to the structure and function of cells and wea...

EFFECT OF AEROBIC TRAINING AND ETHANOL CONSUMPTION ON LIPID PROFILE AND GENE EXPRESSION OF SOME GASTROCNEMIUS MUSCLE MYOKINES IN MALE RATS

Background: Skeletal muscle as an endocrine tissue is involved in the regulation of metabolic activity, production and secretion of hormones including myokines. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of eight weeks of aerobic training combined with ethanol consumption on plasma lipid profile and glucose levels, triglyceride content and mayonectin, irisin and leptin gene expr...

Effects of Energy Drink on Hematological Parameters and Renal Function in Soccer Players

Background: According to the results of some studies, the pressure caused by playing soccer increases creatinine, urea and derivatives of white blood cells (leukocytes, monocytes and granulocytes), red blood cells and nitrates, and as a result, causes dysfunction (1, 5). Increased urea production during exercise indicates an increase in protein catabolism. Elevated serum levels and decreased ur...
